I love cakes, I mean, what wedding photographer doesn’t? And I don’t just mean eating – occasionally I enjoy photographing them as well
Wedding party has been introduced, bride and groom danced their first dance, toasts have been toasted and guests are sitting down for dinner. And before we, wedding photographers, get our first break of the day, there is one last task to accomplish – cake shots. Those are always fun, but sometimes can be a bit of a challenge. Not always well lit, often tucked into reception room corners, sometimes with less than perfect backgrounds, squeezed in between guest tables or hidden behind columns – yet we have to make them look the way they were meant to look – awesome! Exploring different angles, trying out different lenses, and playing with different lighting makes it a fun project of its own, and the results are usually well worth the effort.
I went back and pulled cake shots form the last dozen or so weddings in no particular order. Here they come, enjoy

Napa Valley Wedding Photographer - You do a great job with the lighting for the cake photos. I think my favorite was the cake with the two beach chairs on top.
